Associated Compressor & Equipment started operations on May 24, 1966, founded by Warren Thatcher and supported by his son Michael and Vice President Larry Powel. For almost 50 years, they built a reputation in California's Central Valley for honest work, fair pricing and reliable compressed air service.
A New Chapter
In August 2015, Steve Strah and Jeff Banbury took ownership of Associated Compressor. Both brought decades of compressed air experience and a shared commitment to the values Warren, Mike and Larry established. The mission didn't change. The ambition grew.
Three Locations Strong
Since then, the team has expanded from a single Fresno location to multiple branches, including the successful acquisition of West Coast Compressor in Livermore. Today, Associated Compressor & Equipment has three locations serving California's most demanding industries. Whether you're in Northern, Central or Southern California, every branch offers full sales, service, parts and rentals backed by over 300 years of combined experience.
Our Story
Following the acquisition of Associated Compressor in the fall of 2015, we started as a single compressor shop with just 19 employees in the heart of the Central Valley. Today we've grown to become California's largest independent compressor distributor with three fully staffed locations and 80+ employees. The scale changed. The values didn't.

Former owner of Air Perfection Inc., the number one Quincy distributor in the Western Region. Built a 25-technician service department that became the model for Quincy's own factory distribution centers nationwide.
General Manager
Jeff Banbury
Over 20 years in the industry. 600+ compressed air system audits. One of a small number of individuals in the country certified by both the US Department of Energy and CAGI as a Compressed Air Systems Specialist.
